Welcome to Soft Cuts

A gentle entry point into ideas, images, and in-betweens — where every edition takes its own shape.

Hi there — I’m glad you’re here.

This is Soft Cuts — part writing practice, part scrapbook, part message lab.

I’m Sarah, a strategist by trade. I’ve helped global leaders craft speeches on climate change and women’s rights, advised governments and NGOs, and written for media outlets and political risk firms. But I also grew up sweeping the floors of my family's flower shop founded by my great-grandfather in 1944. I believe in what’s delicate, in what’s durable, and in how language can stitch the two together.

This space is for what doesn't always fits neatly, but still shape how we see the world.

And it's also a place where I build on what I've created professionally: a writing practice for people and projects that need clarity, voice, and strategic direction —behind the scenes, on the record, or somewhere in between.

📬 Forms the Newsletter Might Take

Within the newsletter, the writing may take a few recurring forms: each one a way of noticing, sorting, or stitching things together.

🌱 Fresh Cuts
Timely thoughts, current obsessions, short essays. Anything sharp or sprouting.

🪡 Through Lines
Slower pieces from the roots. Personal stories, cultural essays, or reflections I’ve been carrying around for a while.

🧵 Thread by Thread
Reflections on what we wear, why we wear it, and how clothing becomes language. Often secondhand.

🌸 Pressed Blooms
Words worth keeping. Scraps of poetry, quotes, articles, bits of dialogue I overheard and never forgot.

✏️ Fridge Notes
Odds and ends, questions, fragments, recs or links to resources — the kind of things you’d stick to the back-room fridge or bulletin board.

💌 Why Subscribe?

If you like your writing atmospheric and honest —ideas that meander before they resolve — you'll feel at home here. If you’ve ever found yourself between places (industries, countries, selves), Soft Cuts was made for that in mind.

You won’t get weekly hot takes.
But you will get carefully chosen stories — about power, work, tenderness, and culture.

Thanks for reading, and for being part of whatever this becomes.
